Batsman and bowler on the cricket pitch in Zwolle

Cricket Club Zwolle fixtures

The season at a glance

From the first ball in May to the last over in August: this is what our cricket season looks like.

The season

In April we warm up with friendly matches. The KNCB league runs from early May to the end of August. After that we carry on with indoor cricket.

Home matches

We play our home matches at sportpark De Verbinding in Stadshagen, Zwolle. Come and watch from the boundary: spectators are always welcome.

Away matches

For away matches we travel to clubs across the country. In 2026 our opponents included Arnhem, Hilversum, Kampong, Phoenix, Qui Vive, Wanderers and Salland.

What a match day looks like

The first ball is at 13:00. The buzz starts an hour earlier.

  1. 1

12:00: turning a field into a cricket ground

Bags down, sleeves up. Sight screens up, boundary marked out, stumps in the ground. With every job the match gets closer.

  2. 2

    Warm-up and the toss

Loosening up, hitting a few balls, butterflies in your stomach. Then the coin goes up. Does your captain win the toss? And is it the call you were hoping for: batting or bowling?

  3. 3

    13:00: the first ball

Everything goes quiet. The bowler runs in. From now on every run, every catch and every wicket counts. A six over the boundary or stumps flying: you never know what the next ball will bring.

  4. 4

    Lunch

At the break there is a score on the board and everyone sits down together. Eating, reliving that one catch and making plans for the second half.

  5. 5

    The second innings: the chase

Now everyone knows what is needed. Will they reach the target, or will we defend it? It often comes down to the final overs, with the whole team on edge at the boundary.

  6. 6

Packing up and the third half

Handshakes, clearing the ground and then off to the clubhouse. There we play the match one more time, together with the opposition and a drink in hand. Win or lose: we will be back for the next one.

2026 table: KNCB league, fourth division D

Zwolle 1 finished second and is promoted to the third division. Zwolle 2 stays in the fourth division next season.
